Are Your Bearings Failing Due To High Heat? - 12/23/16
Brass cupping plant had bearings on trunnion that failed every month. The trunnion would run in the furnace and the bearing would reach temperatures of over 400 degrees. The solution used for the brass would also be sprayed on and flushed through the bearing, causing rust. The customer would add grease to the trunnion bearings daily.
The customer would bore out the trunnion to accept an SSR24 ball bearing, stainless steel. The bearings would be modified with the COBRA Lube from Unique Technologies to accept the temperature and the fluid be flushed by the trunnion. The customer would not have to grease the bearings.
Benefit and Cost Savings:
The initial bearings have lasted 8 weeks, which is twice as long as the original bearings. The customer is not greasing the bearings or doing routine maintenance which would take around 5 hours every week for maintenance and 10 hours monthly for changing the bearings. Total savings is over $45K a year.
